Using the site
Do I need an account?
Not to practise. Everything in Free Materials opens and works without signing in. You need a free account only if you want the site to remember your results and let you save worksheets to come back to.
Is it really free?
Yes. The free library and the account that saves your progress both cost nothing, and the site never asks for a card.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, the worksheets work on a phone as well as on a laptop. Listening exercises need sound, so headphones help.
Levels and choosing material
Which level should I choose?
Worksheets are labelled A1 to C2 on the CEFR scale. As a rough guide: A1–A2 is beginner and elementary, B1–B2 is intermediate, C1–C2 is advanced. If a worksheet feels like you are guessing more than half the answers, drop a level. If you finish it without stopping to think, go up one.
There is nothing at my level yet
The library is growing and some levels currently have more material than others. New worksheets are added as they are written, so it is worth checking the free library again later.
Progress and results
How is my progress saved?
When you are signed in, each worksheet keeps its own record: how many exercises you have answered, your score, and where you stopped. Open it again later and you carry on from there. When you are not signed in, your answers work normally but nothing is kept after you close the page.
Can I redo a worksheet?
Yes, as many times as you like. On worksheets you opened yourself you can also mark a finished one as unfinished and start it again from the beginning.
Studying with a teacher
My teacher assigned me something. Where is it?
Sign in and open My Materials. Anything your teacher has given you appears there, grouped into folders if your teacher has organised it that way.
Can my teacher see my answers?
On materials your teacher assigned to you, yes — that is the point of assigning them. Your teacher sees how much you completed, your score, and your answers to individual exercises, and can leave you comments on the worksheet page.
I was sent a link to a single worksheet
Some links are one-time links that stop working after they have been opened once. If yours no longer works, ask whoever sent it for a new one.
Account
How do I change my password or my name?
Sign in and open My Account. You can change your name and password there. The email address you registered with is fixed — ask us if it needs to change.
I forgot my password
Use the “Lost your password?” link on the sign-in page and a reset link will be sent to your email address.
